People were able to reach other people in seconds, make business transactions in seconds, and increase accessibility to resources at an astronomical rate. People that had invested in the Internet were gaining billions of dollars as the popular tool was being used around the world.

The Internet today is much different than it was five years ago. This constantly growing online empire is being accessed by, as of March 31, 2008, 1.407 billion people according to Internet World Stats. The Internet is being used for a variety of activities. E-mail as mentioned before allows friends, family and strangers to communicate with each other at great speed. Chat rooms and online dating have become popular recently where people meet other people online. Businesses market themselves through advertisements planted on the Internet and Internet sites. Leisurely activities such as surfing the next aimlessly or using it for studies, allows people to access resources freely.

The Internet has consumed our daily lives and people no longer seek physical resources anymore. The news can be seen online, as well as movies, questions and problems can be talked about and discussed on the Internet. People are no longer meeting other people face to face but through chat rooms and online dating sites. People are interacting with the Internet at an alarming rate.

As humans do, we're evolving and adapting around this new influence in our lives. People are accepting the inevitable and in doing so are changing the way we use the Internet and how others use the Internet. Businesses are creating websites and pages to promote their company and products. People are going to school for web design and online marketing to adept and use the Internet to their advantage.
