A return is one thing, but investing for cash flow is a much more interesting opportunity. particularly a residual cash flow. Investing in a vehicle that will give you a cash flow based on how many hours of work you do is one thing, but to get big cash flow, to get the type of cash flow that will change your lifestyle, you should consider circumstances where a passive income is possible.

The leverage of a passive or residual income is obvious. This type of income provides time leverage because when you do the work once, it stays done for the foreseeable future. This means you can add to the income and single handedly make it huge. Because the first leg of passive income is done and stays done, making another leg ads to the cash flow.

Compare this to an income that requires constant work and every day, to continue the money coming in, you must start from scratch every day. This type of income doesn't have the component of time leverage and therefore cannot be added to.

To invest for a return is one thing and that is typically the goal of most investors. That is to compound your capital on a yearly basis. However, the other component of a cash flow actually increases the returns dramatically because you can look at that money as a return also.

Looking for that component of leverage is the key to getting a large income going even with a modest investment. Working hands on in an investment you made is often a good idea because you get the chance to directly affect the return you'll get. But introducing leverage changes the nature of the equation.
